This Privacy Policy explains how Goldfish Context Co d/b/a BetterSured (“BetterSured,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use BetterSured. By using BetterSured, you agree to this Privacy Policy and to our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide to shop for insurance, including:
- Your name and contact information (email, phone, mailing address);
- Home, vehicle, driver, and household details;
- Current insurance policy information and coverage preferences;
- Documents you upload, such as policy declarations or quotes;
- Claims or loss-history information you provide; and
- Sensitive identifiers such as date of birth and driver’s license number.
Providing sensitive identifiers (such as date of birth and driver’s license number) to BetterSured is optional, but most agents and brokers will require them to prepare firm quotes or bind coverage.
We also automatically collect limited technical information (such as IP address, device and browser type, and basic usage data) to operate and secure the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Organize your insurance information and prepare a quote-request package;
- Share your request with insurance agents and brokers you authorize;
- Generate summaries, coverage fact sheets, and comparisons;
- Communicate with you about your quote request; and
- Operate, secure, and improve the service and comply with law.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share your information with:
- Insurance agents, brokers, agencies, and carriers you authorize, so they can prepare quotes and contact you;
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract (for example, hosting, storage, email delivery, and the AI provider described below); and
- Legal and safety recipients where required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal information. Agents and brokers who receive your information are independent third parties and handle it under their own privacy practices.
4. Artificial Intelligence Processing
We use a third-party AI service provider (currently Anthropic) to read, summarize, classify, and compare the documents and information you provide. Your information and documents are not used to train AI models, are not retained by our AI provider beyond the limited period required to provide the service (in accordance with the provider’s data-retention terms), and are not shared for any other purpose.
5. How We Protect Your Information
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information. Sensitive identifiers (such as date of birth, driver’s license number, and policy numbers) are encrypted, access to your data is restricted, and document downloads are delivered through short-lived, access-controlled links.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. Email and document delivery, in particular, may not be fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Quote requests that are never confirmed are automatically purged after a limited retention period. You may request earlier deletion as described below.
7. Your Choices and Rights
You may, at any time:
- Request access to the information we hold about you;
- Request correction or deletion of your information;
- Withdraw your consent to future sharing; and
- Opt out of BetterSured marketing communications.
To make any of these requests, email privacy@bettersured.com. Please note that we cannot recall information already shared with an agent or broker before your request, and those partners maintain their own records under their own policies. To stop contact from a particular agent or broker, please contact that partner directly.
8. Children
BetterSured is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of BetterSured after changes means you accept the updated policy.
